Chris Rock Won’t Discuss ‘The Slap’ Until He Gets Paid
If you want to hear Chris Rock talk about “The Slap” you’re going to have to fork over some cash.
“I’m OK, I have a whole show and I’m not talking about that until I get paid. Life is good. I got my hearing back,” Rock said at his Indio, Calif. Fantasy Springs set on Friday night (April 8) per Uproxx.
The comedian also refused to talk about the Oscars incident during his Boston performance of his comedy tour on March 30, which was his first since the Oscars.
“I don’t have a bunch of s— about what happened,” he said at the Boston show, adding that he is still reflecting on the matter at the time. “I had like a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kinda processing what happened. So at some point, I’ll talk about that s–.”
Per the Academy's statement to Will Smith, the actor has been banned from the organization’s events for 10 years. The Academy also acknowledged Rock’s professionalism during the incident in their statement: “We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances,” the statement read.
Following the Academy’s decision, Will Smith told Page Six in a statement, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
