Verzuz Acquired By Triller, Swizz Beatz And Timberland To Become Brand Visionaries
Verzuz is moving on up in the world. Complex reports that the music battle series has been acquired by Triller Network. And Verzuz creators, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, will join the Triller Verzuz management team and become brand visionaries.
The Verzuz brand also has plans to expand to sports verticals, comedy, and other mediums in the future.
In a joint statement about the business decision, Swizz and Timbaland said, “This is a momentous occasion not only for Verzuz and Triller but the music business as a whole. By putting Verzuz in the Triller Network ecosystem and expanding the Verzuz brand to be side by side with the powerful Triller app, we will be able to continue to grow and evolve the music business as a whole, as we have been doing. To have partners in Triller who share our vision, specifically to celebrate and elevate the amazing artists who continue to shape culture around the world and give the consumer more direct access, is game-changing.”
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have been made large shareholders in the Triller Network. In addition, its allocated a portion of their equity in the company to the 43 artists who are already part of the Verzuz universe.
Artist confirmed to be shareholders and partners in the Triller Network include most of the artists that have competed in battles. That includes John Legend, Alicia Keys, D’Angelo, Ludacris, Babyface, Nelly, Jagged Edge, Brandy, Monica, Gladys Knight, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and more.
