‘Hip Hop Uncovered’ Featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, And More Coming To FX
There is a new documentary series is coming to FX showing behind-the-scenes and the people behind some of the biggest rap and hip-hop stars in the business. Per Deadline, Hip Hop Uncovered will showcase the power brokers who operate from the shadows of the industry.
The outlet describes the series, saying, “Set against 40 years of music history, the series takes a deep dive into the paradox of America’s criminalization of the genre and its fascination with the street culture that created it and still exists within it.”
“Instead of telling the story of hip hop from the top down, Hip Hop Uncovered tells it from the streets up, as it reveals the untold story of how America’s streets helped shape hip hop culture from an expression of survival and defiance into music’s most dominant genre.”
Featured in episodes will be people like Eugene “Big U” Henley, gang leader-turned-community activist, who has worked with artists including Nipsey Hussle; Antney, Waka Flocka Flame’s mother, who has worked with Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj; and Jacques “Haitian Jack” Agnant, who had worked with Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G.
Artists like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre will also be interviewed for the show. Hip Hop Uncovered will air on February 12 on FX. The following day, the show will be on Hulu. Watch the trailer below.
