Ryan Dorsey Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit For Naya Rivera’s Death
Ryan Dorsey, Naya Rivera’s ex, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit for her untimely death. Per TMZ, Dorsey filed documents on behalf of their son, Josey Hollis Dorsey.
They state that Ventura County is responsible for her death because the boat they were on in Lake Piru didn’t comply with safety standards. In the docs filed by Ryan’s attorney, it says the boat “was not equipped with a safely accessible ladder, adequate rope, an anchor, a radio or any security mechanisms to prevent swimmers from being separated from their boats, nor any flotation or lifesaving devices.” And all of this violates California law.
Part of Ryan’s claims is that the boat Naya and Josey were on drifted away when they went into the lake to swim. The boat was “rocking back and forth forcefully in the current and wind,” but proper safety equipment would have prevented that.
Ryan is also saying that there were no signs posted warning guests about dangerous conditions of the lake. He lastly points out that the person who rented Naya the boat didn’t warn her to wear the life vest that came with the boat.
TMZ lastly adds that at least 26 other people have drowned in Lake Piru since its recreational facilities opened.
Naya was reported missing on July 8. Her body was found on July 13.
