Ciara And Russell Wilson Are Funding A Charter School In Seattle Area
Ciara and Russell Brand are putting some of that hard-earned cash to good use. Per Billboard, the pair has shelled out $1.75 million to fund an existing charter program.
They are doing this through their Why Not You Foundation for Cascade Midway Academy, just south of Seattle. The school will open in 2021.
The Cascade high school program was initially going to debut earlier this year. Unfortunately, COVID-19 delayed everything. The outlet adds that the school reached out to the stars for help and landed the partnership.
When asked about the new venture, Ciara said, “I’m really confident…about the team that we have here and how we’re building things out. We’re passionate about everything. We’re all in on this.”
Cascade Midway Academy focuses on academics, personalized student plans, internships, and mentorships for disadvantaged Black and brown students. If all goes well, this will be the first of many Why Not You Foundation sites in the U.S.
