Ciara Releases Powerful Video For Her Single ‘Rooted’
Ciara recently released a powerful video for her new single “Rooted.” In the video, Ciara paid homage to Black women and girls, her Atlanta roots, and to Breonna Taylor.
“Young girl stay rooted/I done plant my seeds now I’m rooted/Brown skin poppin’, I’m rooted/ATL bred, I’m rooted/Rooted, nappy head rooted,” Ciara sings on the track. “All my songs come with melanin/Got the heart, got the soul like Harriett/A queen since she born, that was evident/That’s evidence, of black excellence/I can tell a good dog when I’m pettin’ ’em/Know that if I have the strap, he protectin’ ’em/Mother of a child and God I invest in ’em/Nutritionin’, brown milkin’ em (Brown milkin’ ’em).”
Ciara recently shared on Instagram that she shot the video just two days before going into labor with her third child. “ATL bred I’m #Rooted. Shot this video 2 days before delivery, Covid style! Out now!” the Atlanta native wrote in the caption of a clip shared on Instagram of the video. The singer’s husband, Russell Wilson, took to Twitter to share a special message to his wife, where the NFL star saluted her for shooting the video so close to her delivery date.
“Love you, Ciara. What you mean to not only me and the kids but people from all over the world,” Wilson tweeted. “The fact that you shot this amazing video only a few days before delivering Baby Win shows why you are the best in the world. Stay rooted.” Watch the video below.
