UPDATE: Kanye West Reportedly Files with FEC, Presidential Bid Still Active
UPDATE: Even though New York Magazine reports he has dropped out, TMZ claims he hasn’t.
They state, “Kanye filed the first form required by the FEC Wednesday — Form 1, Statement of Organization — declaring that the Kanye 2020 committee will serve as the ‘Principal Campaign Committee’ with West as its candidate. The party is listed as BDY … which Ye’s said stands for the Birthday Party.”
They add, “He’s yet to file the more important Form 2 — Statement of Candidacy — which shows he’s raised or spent more than $5,000 in campaign activity and triggers candidacy status under federal campaign finance law.”
ORIGINAL STORY
Kanye West has reportedly dropped out of the Presidential race, and in the process left hundreds of workers without a job.
As reported, Kanye West announced that he was running for president in the 2020 election. Later it was reported that his family and friends were concerned for his mental health. This was after the Forbes interview, where Ye said he no longer supported Trump, he’s running as part of a new party called the “Birthday Party,” and he wants to run the White House like Wakanda.

Now, according to New York Magazine, Steve Kramer, a get-out-the-vote specialist who also helps candidates get on the ballot, was hired by Kanye. According to Kramer, West’s team was working diligently to formalize his bid for candidacy. He told the outlet, “We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot. Whether anybody is going to vote for him or not is up to them.”
Kramer also explained that both paid workers and volunteers were working on getting signatures. “They got a lot of people who they’ve got both on their volunteer side and their contracted side.”
New York Magazine states that as they continued to reach out to Kanye’s publicist for information, his team seemed to go dark. Steve Kramer later stated about Kayne: “He’s out.”
He added that this decision has left all of Kanye’s new employees out of jobs. “I’ll let you know what I know once I get all our stuff canceled. We had over 180 people out there today.”

The outlet points out that although Kanye’s campaign reportedly ended abruptly, Kramer had nothing but polite things to say about the rapper. “I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye. Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.” He lastly added, “Any candidate running for president for the first time goes through these hiccups.”
Kanye has since been on Twitter posting photos of his kids and pictures of chairs he likes. He also released a new song titled “Donna,” after his late mother.
