North Carolina Corn Maze Named No. 3 Best in the U.S.
Fall is the perfect time to visit a cider mill and corn maze, and one North Carolina corn maze is getting recognized as one of the best in the country. I absolutely love visiting cider mills in the fall. Actually, I like doing it in the spring and summer, too, because it’s less busy and makes for some scenic views. But, this fall season, I’ve already been to two area cider mills, because I had to get a jump on the seasonal fun. If you’re planning to visit a cider mill or two coming up, make note of this local corn maze spot. Of course, if doesn’t stop there, so venture out and try any of your local cider mills for some adventure this season.
North Carolina Corn Maze Destination is a Favorite
The experts at USA Today have a new 10 Best tally out with the best corn mazes in America. These are spots that were selected by an expert panel and voted by their readers as the best in the country. “Each autumn, farms across the United States transform their cornfields into interactive mazes, perfect for a fall family outing,” they state, adding that these spots “are the most exemplary, both for the quality of the mazes themselves and for the wealth of other activities” offered. Whether you’re looking for a scary corn maze or one that offers family fun, they have you covered. I love regular corn mazes and haunted ones can be a blast, but I always have the fear of getting stuck in one, which is silly.
The No. 1 corn maze in America, according to their readers and panel, is Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Maine. It’s the “longest continually running corn maze in the state,” covering more than four acres and consists of 60,000 corn plants grown to a height of 10 feet.
So, what about our area? Hubb’s Farm at 10276 N, US-421 in Clinton, North Carolina, is a high No. 3 on the tally. “Since 2008, the Peterson family has welcomed visitors to test their inner GPS as they navigate miles of trails within a corn maze that spans more than 10 acres,” USA Today notes. They also note that for parents with toddlers, there’s a shorter half-mile maze that is fun for that crew. Hubb’s Farm says, “Whether you want to meet the farm animals, see who can make it down the giant double-barrel slide first, or see what riches you can discover at Paydirt Pete’s Treasure Mine, you’ll find hours and hours of family entertainment here.”
