Amy Slaton Of TLC’s ‘1,000-Lb Sisters’ Arrested At Tennessee Zoo
Amy Slaton Halterman, one of the 2 sisters featured on TLC’s “1,000-Lb Sisters” was arrested at a Tennessee zoo this week. She’s since been charged with drug possession and child endangerment.
The popular show follows sisters, Amy and Tammy Slaton, as they seek to lose weight together. At one point, the sisters weighed a combined 1,000lbs (hence the name of the show). “1,000-Lb Sisters” is seen on TLC. TLC is The Learning Channel and it looks like Amy is going to be learning her lesson the hard way.
Why Was Amy Slaton From ‘1,000-Lb Sisters’ Arrested?
The incident happened at Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee which is roughly 80 miles northeast of Memphis. It all started when deputies from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department were alerted to a guest allegedly being bit by a camel. It sounds like the person who called about being bit was Amy Slaton Halterman, star of TLC’s “1,000-Lb Sisters.”
However, when police arrived they reportedly were overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle, per Crockett County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook. Halterman was then arrested for illegal possession of Schedule 1 drugs, illegal possession of Schedule VI drugs, and 2 counts of child endangerment. Brian Scott Lovvom was also in the vehicle and is now facing the same charges, per The New York Post. It remains unclear what the drugs in their possession were. You can see Amy’s mugshot below.
It’s been a rough couple of years for Amy Slaton Halterman. She and her husband, Michael Halterman, went through a messy public divorce last year that included a requested restraining order. The pair’s wedding was documented on the popular TLC show. They have two sons together, Gage, who was born in November 2020, and Glenn Allen, who was born in July 2022. Less than a year after Glenn Allen was born the two separated, per The New York Post.
Amy is no stranger to having her troubles documented, only this is a different kind of issue than we’re used to seeing her deal with. When “1,000-Lb Sisters” debuted on TLC back in 2020, she reportedly weighed more than 400 pounds. She has since going through gastric bypass surgery and lost some weight and now weighs in at around 275 pounds, per The New York Post. There isn’t a lot more information publicly available about the arrest and its circumstances right now. Hopefully, she gets the help she needs.
