It’s nice to see this chain expanding across America, including in our state. It’s always nice to see a home-grown chain start to branch out and develop a following outside of their home territory.
For Big Dave’s, that home territory is Atlanta, Georgia. If you’re wondering why Big Dave’s tastes so authentic, it’s because it has Philly roots. Hayes, its founder, was born and raised in West Philadelphia. “The entrepreneur spent much of his upbringing in the kitchen with his grandfather where he garnered his culinary knowledge by assisting with Sunday dinners and crafting flavorful dishes through the mixture of seasonings and spices,” their story says. “After facing personal hardships, Derrick was given a second chance that inspired him to change the trajectory of his life.” So, he moved to Atlanta, where the cheesesteaks just weren’t as tasty as they were in Philly, and he brought that goodness to them.
