Charli xcx And Lorde Worked Out Their Issues Through A Remix
Charli xcx and Lorde, who have long been compared to one another, have worked out their issues once and for all through a remix.
We can see the similarities (from very far away), but the singer-songwriters don’t have the same style musically or really share anything besides dark hair. Despite that, Charli, who is English, and Lorde, who is from New Zealand, have been confused for each other for a long time now. It only makes sense that the two are on Charli’s remix of the brat track, “Girl, So Confusing.”
As we previously reported, xcx was compared to Lorde in a viral interview clip and sung about the comparisons in “Girl, So Confusing.” The song’s lyrics, “People say we’re alike. They say we’ve got the same hair,” describe how the two are constantly compared.
Though the song initially showcased Charli’s mixed feelings about the New Zealand artist, Lorde shared her support of the brat album on her Instagram Story Thursday (June 6), writing, “I speak for all of us when I say it’s an honour to be moved, changed and gagged by her work, there is NO ONE like this bitch. Brava and welcome brat.”
Charli xcx and Lorde Work It Out On The Remix
With a screenshot of a text from Lorde (whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor) posted on Charli’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the lyrics that made it onto the remix are: “Well, honestly I was speechless when I woke up to your voice note, you told me how you’d been feeling: let’s work it out on the remix.”
In the following lines, Lorde gets really candid about her feelings about Charli. Apparently, when Charli would invite Lorde to go out with her, she’d cancel last minute. Citing body image issues and an eating disorder, Lorde sings that she was so jealous of Charli’s “awesome” life.
Later in her verse, Lorde brings up the constant similarities brought up between the two: “People say we’re alike, they say we’ve got the same hair. It’s you and me on the coin the industry loves to spend. And when we put this to bed, the internet will go crazy. I’m glad I know how you feel, ’cause I ride for you, Charli.”
Fans absolutely loved the way the two pop stars worked out their issues. One person wrote: “big day for former tumblr kids. 2 grunge queens truly maximized their joint confusion. x2.” Added another: “idk why ’cause i ride for you charli’ had me a lil emotional.” A third fan hilariously wrote: “two queens coming together to maximy their joint SLAY.”
Changing the Narrative
Charli’s recent remix with Lorde shows that pop stars of their caliber can put their personal feelings aside to work through a complicated relationship. Despite the ridiculous stans and extreme fan bases currently out there perpetuating toxic chatter, seeing xcx and Lorde work together is bringing happy feelings like the above fans mentioned.
As we recently reported, Charli shut down fans from thinking chanting “Taylor is dead” at her concerts are okay. Instead, she called for them to quit the negative behavior despite Swift allegedly blocking xcx from going #1 in the UK. As Taylor is currently in Europe, it would be a smart move for Tay-Tay to collaborate with Charli to keep the haters and fans at bay.
