Years after One Direction disbanded, former boy band member Louis Tomlinson addresses his frustrations with the persistent romance conspiracies surrounding him and former bandmate Harry Styles.

The 32-year-old “Story of My Life” singer has previously shut down rumors that fans have started regarding the “Larry” (Louis + Harry) romance. However, the theories have continued even during the boy band’s indefinite hiatus in March 2016. In a new interview with Brazilian outlet G1, the father of one admits defeat when it comes to correcting the fan theories.

“There is nothing I can do to stop those who believe in this conspiracy,” Tomlinson says of the rumor mill. He adds that the crazed fans will not “see the truth for what it really is,” and find things like this interesting. Despite that, Tomlinson admits he finds it irritating. Then, he says these “little conspiracy theories” get so personal, and bring in his 8-year-old son Freddie into it.

One fan commented on the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “The difference between conspiracy and conspiracy theory… partisans were real conspiracies not theories that can change be invented … Have you ever heard words about this song?” They shared Tomlinson’s song “Silver Tongues.” The lyrics include lines like: “You know it’s times like these we’re so much happier. Nights like these we’ll remember those stupid jokes only we know. You know when I’m with you, I’m so much happier.”

Another fan defended Tomlinson, commenting: “it’s insane how he has denied it every single year yet these people continue to say horrible things about his son and call him a liar, just like they’ve been doing after this one interview. MOVE ON!!!” One fan wrote: “i’m crying he’s still being asked about this?? are people still trying to prove this theory? [crying emoji]”

Meanwhile, one fan was angry his interview didn’t focus on him as an artist but the conspiracy theory. They wrote: “The rare occasion Louis is featured in the Rolling Stone is 4 calling Larries deluded. Not 4 his music, festivals or tour. Same 4 the other mainstream magazines he’s being featured in at the moment which don’t usually mention him. His only relevance is 1D & denying the Larrie cult.” Commented another: “i KNOWWWW louis is tired [crying emoji].”

One Direction formed in 2010 by Simon Cowell on The X Factor consisting of members Tomlinson, Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne. The boy band went on to reach massive global success before they went on indefinite hiatus six years later. Since then, each member has pursued a solo music career.

He has praised the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s solo career in recent years, calling him “like a brother.” In November 2022, Tomlinson told British publication The Telegraph that he’s proud of what Styles, 30, is doing. Tomlinson added that he’s not surprised how Styles became the “most commercially successful” of the group, because he “really fits the mold of a modern star. He’s not just doing music, he’s got film as well, and the [stadium] tour he’s done is unbelievable.”

Tomlinson is gearing up to head to Latin America for his Faith in the Future world tour from May 2nd to June 6th.

Since the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015, Styles has produced three chart-topping studio albums and launched his acting career. In 2017, Styles dropped his self-titled debut studio album with the track “Sign Of The Times.” His second album, Fine Line, was released two years later with the tracks “Lights Up” and “Watermelon Sugar.” In between making albums, Styles made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. In 2021, he made an appearance in Marvel’s Eternals, followed by two starring roles in films in 2022: Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman. His third studio album, Harry’s House, was released that same year with tracks like “As It Was” and “Music for a Sushi Restaurant.”

He previously explained in an interview that the track is about “that initial infatuation stage when you get that heavy feeling of just bliss, like a blissful, very joyous connection with someone.”

    In this hard rock track from his debut album, Harry belts, “She’s driving me crazy, but I’m into it. But I’m into it, I’m kinda into it. It’s getting crazy, I think I’m losing it. I think I’m losing it, oh, I think she said.” He said, “As one of the first ones I wrote for the album, it includes lyrics about cigarettes, liquor, a femme fatale, and a one night stand. He later said that “it started out as a joke, now it’s one of my favorite songs.”

    In this acoustic track from his debut self-titled album, Harry sings, “Woke up alone in this hotel room, played with myself, where were you? Fell back to sleep, I got drunk by noon.
