Jennifer Lopez Says Her New Album May Be Her Last
Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming album, This Is Me… Now, may be her last album. The singer, dancer, and actress told ET recently that she gave her ninth studio album all she has. Just a few days before the release of her first album in a decade, Lopez, 56, tells the publication that this album is the “kind of quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I really feel very fulfilled.” She asked the publication to not tell her longtime manager, Benny Medina, that she is thinking of hanging up the mic. (As if he doesn’t read interviews with her!)
The Bronx native says the new album comes with a “bunch of different album covers.” She also plans to release collector’s items and more surprises for fans so they can enjoy “forever and ever.” Accompanying the album is Lopez’s musical film, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, which releases on Amazon Prime Video the same day. She tells the publication that the project will show all the “amazing things” that have happened to the star in the last few years. After making the music that portrayed this point in her life, Lopez wanted to go above and beyond the normal route. Instead, she created this “cinematic experience.”

While in the studio, the artist realized her new tunes would be beautifully told as a story. She approached director Dave Meyers, with her ideas of sharing all that she’s learned and experienced into an “artistic piece.” Meyers, who has directed hundreds of music videos and commercials over the past 20 years was on board with her pitch. Lopez said that he was able to elevate it beyond her wildest dreams. The final product is “quite moving and beautiful,” Lopez promises.
This Is Me… Now and This Is Me… Now: A Love Story will be released on Friday, February 16.
