Taylor Swift Sells One Of Her Private Jets After Emissions Tracking
Taylor Swift has sold one of her private jets for $40 million after years of scrutiny over her carbon emissions. According to documents obtained by Daily Mail, the pop icon sold her Dassault Falcon 900LX on January 30 to a car insurance company. Swift reportedly purchased the jet for $40 million in 2011, but the plane is now estimated to be worth around $7 million second-hand, the publication reported. She has another private jet, a larger Dassault Falcon 7X, and it has been her primary mode of transportation during the international leg of her Eras Tour. Swift is currently performing in Japan.
As we previously reported, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter has been called out to cut down on her carbon emissions for years. This has been reignited in recent months as she travels around the world between tour stops and appearances to support her NFL star boyfriend’s games. In 2022, Swift topped the list of the worst celebrity private jet CO2 emission offenders, according to Yard, a sustainability marketing agency that prides itself on “cutting-edge data and analysis.” According to the report, Swift’s shortest flight in 2022 was a 36-minute trip from Missouri to Nashville.
Tracking Swift’s Flights
Swift’s decision to sell one of her jets follows news of her lawyers sending a cease-and-desist letter to a college student who tracked her flights and locations. The student, Jack Sweeney, also tracks the flight paths of planes and helicopters owned by celebrities, billionaires, politicians, and other public figures using publicly available data provided by the Federal Aviation Administration to share the estimates of their costs and emissions.
Sweeney told Daily Mail that he never intended to harm. “I believe in transparency and public information,” he said. However, Swift’s lawyers blame his flight-tracking tipped off her stalkers, per The Washington Post. The letter from her lawyers states that there is “no legitimate interest in or public need for this information, other than to stalk, harass, and exert dominion and control.” However, Sweeney responded that her team “thinks they can control the world” because the information is already out there. He also tracks the private jets of Kim Kardashian, Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg.

Swift recently flew from Brazil to Kansas City, marking her biggest trip to date, using 4,151 gallons of fuel, costing an estimated $23,250. A spokesperson for Swift claimed she was working to travel less frequently than she had in the past.
