Mariah Carey Reveals Her Favorite Christmas Song (It’s Not Her Own)
Mariah Carey has a favorite Christmas song, and surprisingly, it’s not her own. The Grammy-winning singer is known for her popular holiday ballads “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” and “Oh, Santa.” The self-proclaimed “Queen of Christmas” shared that her favorite song for the holiday is a Christmas classic.
“My favorite all-time Christmas song is Nat King Cole’s version of ‘[The] Christmas Song’ — that’s my favorite,” Carey told host Jennifer Hudson on her eponymous talk show. Cole’s song has a deeper and special meaning to her as the “All I Want For Christmas” singer noted that it “was my grandmother’s favorite.”
How Mariah Carey Celebrates Christmas In Her Home
Christmas music and movies are also big in the Carey household during the holiday season. Carey told Hudson that her favorite Christmas movies are Elf, starring Will Farrell and Zoey Deschanel, and the original Miracle on 34th Street. ” She said that the latter film has just “got something about it.”
It doesn’t just stop there, either. Holiday decorations are all over in the Carey estate, including two Christmas trees. The singer explains that one tree is more extravagant, with gold (not real gold, she notes) and silver in the main part of the house. The second tree has more of a homey feel and is smaller with “multicolor lights.” She said that the second tree she likes to decorate with gifts her fans have given her over the years, like tree ornaments and customized pieces.
Food is also a part of the celebration as she cooks a linguine and clam sauce recipe that her father left for her before he passed away on Dec. 23. She said, “nobody believes me,” that she actually cooks. On the actual Christmas Day, she did admit that she does hire someone to cater but adds that she will “add a little bit of seasoning” to the dishes.
