Bella Hadid ‘Finally Healthy’ After 15 Years of ‘Invisible Suffering’
Bella Hadid is opening up about her long-term health struggles. Over the weekend, the 26-year-old model updated her 59.3 million Instagram followers on what her older sister Gigi called her “long and intense treatment for Lyme disease.”
In a series of snaps of her medical journey of over a decade, Bella shared she is “finally healthy.” She began the post by thanking her mother, Yolanda Hadid, for “sticking by” her. Per People, Yolanda was also diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, along with her younger brother Anwar, 24.
100+ Days of Lyme, 15 Years of ‘Invisible Suffering’
The model wrote in her caption that “living in this state” took a toll on her in ways she can’t explain. Despite being a successful model and co-founder of Kin Euphorics, Bella was “sad and sick.” She assured fans Sunday (August 6) that she’s okay and there’s no need to worry. If she had to go through the same journey to get healthy all over again, Bella said she would do it all over. “It made me who I am today,” she wrote. “The universe works in the most painful and beautiful ways, but I need to say that if you are struggling- it will get better.”
She endured over 100 days of Lyme, chronic disease, co-infection treatment, and almost 15 years of “invisible suffering.” It was all worth it to be “able to truly be myself, for the first time ever,” Bella said. What helped her was trying to visualize “the most positive pictures.” As painful as the experience was, Bella says the outcome was the “most enlightening experience of my life.” Bella concluded her post by saying she would be back to modeling when she was ready.
