Hailey Bieber Slams ‘Vile, Disgusting’ Hate of Her & Selena Gomez

Hailey Bieber is once again trying to get fans to stop spreading “vile, disgusting hatred” between her and Selena Gomez. The model said in a new interview with Bloomberg that there are “completely made up and twisted and perpetuated narratives” made up about her and Gomez online. Hailey, 26, said, “I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women.”
Squashing The Hate
She called the hatred “really dangerous,” adding that she thinks it is an opportunity for fans to bring people together instead of causing division. “I’m not okay with the kind of division that it caused,” Hailey continued. “I don’t like this whole idea of team this person and team this person—I’m just not about that. I want to be able to bring people together.”
In March, Selena, 30, publicly slammed “hateful negativity” aimed at Hailey, which came after years of speculation that the two were fighting over Justin Bieber (Selena’s ex, Hailey’s husband). The Only Murders In The Building star’s efforts were appreciated by the Rhode Beauty founder. Hailey stressed the importance of how it can bring people together.
In Hailey’s new interview, she rejected this “frustrating, old” narrative of pitting two women against each other. “Because of a guy? It’s awful,” she noted. “I hate it. I’ve hated it since the beginning. And I think that kind of goes back to a little bit of just being misunderstood when it’s like time and time again, I don’t know why I keep having to say, and we keep having to say, that there is no issue and there is no problem.” Hailey further stressed her disappointment that people “still behave this way over a man.” She sadly added, “It’s the world we live in, unfortunately.”
Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber Squash Beef, Pose Together For Photos
Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have proved to fans that there is no bad blood between the two — posting photos cozying up together. A few weeks following Hailey’s interview opening up about the backlash she faced when she began dating Justin Bieber, Gomez’s ex. The two women attended the 2022 Academy Museum Gala and photographer Tyrell Hampton shared one of the snaps on Instagram alongside the caption, “plot twist.”

As both Selena and Hailey have noted, their fanbases have attempted to pit the two against each other. Last month, the Only Murders in the Building star spoke out against the “vile and disgusting” hate Hailey received due to the timing of her relationship with Justin. Gomez posted a TikTok video calling out her fans who were actively attacking Hailey online.
“I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting, and it’s not fair, and no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen,” Selena said in the video. “All I have to say is, it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words, ’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”
For her part, Hailey shared that even though it may have appeared from the outside that there was some overlap between her relationship with Justin and Gomez’s, the pop star was single when their romance began. “A lot of the hate and the perpetuation comes from like, ‘Oh, you stole [Justin].’ And I guess maybe that just comes from the fact that they wished he had ended up with somebody else. And that’s fine. You can wish that all you want but that’s just not the case.”
She added, “But I will say too, the only people that really know the truth of the situation and what the timeline really was and how it happened and how it went down are like me and him. Perception is a really tricky thing because when you’re watching something from the outside, you can see it one way when it may not really be the reality of what happened behind closed doors.”
