Kelly Clarkson Addresses Rumored ‘Beef’ With Carrie Underwood
Kelly Clarkson has put rumors to rest that she and Carrie Underwood had a so-called “beef.” In a new interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Kelly took questions from fans, and one fan asked about the alleged beef.
Clarkson responded, “People always put us together, and we don’t even know each other well enough to be pitted against each other. Literally, we’ve run into each other a handful of times. There’s no beef between us. There’s nothing between us.” She added, “We don’t know each other. We’ve literally run into each other a few times.”

When the fan asked what her favorite part of having Carrie on her talk show was, Kelly got up and got a drink. She laughed and said, “Look, everyone always asked me about being pitted against her. It was awesome; I think it was great having her on the show. I think the thing that was cool about it is that everyone always pits us against each other, and I don’t know why they do that.” (It might be because they are both former American Idol winners.)
She continued, “They don’t do that with dudes. They only do that with females, and we don’t even know each other well enough to do that. But I think I’d love to have her there (on the show) in person; it was during COVID, and she wasn’t in the room, which was fine. I’d be cool.”
The alleged and “not true” fueled rumors were sparked in 2016 when a source told Radar that Carrie was upset that Kelly was invited to sing solo on American Idol and Underwood was only invited back to collaborate with another artist. It also alleges that Underwood was “jealous” that Clarkson got to be a coach on NBC’s The Voice. Kelly and Carrie posed for a photo together in 2018 at the Radio Disney Music Awards.
