Adele Reveals She Got ‘Jock Itch’ While Performing
Adele has been given an unpleasant gift during her “Weekends With Adele” Las Vegas residency: jock itch. No, it’s not caused by messing around in Sin City, but rather due to sweating in tight clothing. The “Easy On Me” singer, 35, shared that her doctor told her she acquired the fungal infection after sweating in her Spanx every night while performing under hot lights.
“It is a bit crude, but I never knew it existed,” she shared with her fans at the Caesars Palace Colosseum over the weekend. “Me and my team were talking about it earlier. Obviously, when I do my shows, I wear Spanx to keep it all in and make it all fit me. And I sweat a lot, and it doesn’t go anywhere. So basically, I just sit in my own sweat. And my doctor gave me Jock Itch [cream].”

Jock itch, also called tinea cruris, is a fungal skin infection that causes an itchy rash in warm, moist areas of the body, according to Mayo Clinic. The rash often affects the groin and inner thighs and may be shaped like a ring. Jock itch is often caused by the same organism that causes athlete’s foot. Jock itch gets its name because it’s common in athletes and people who sweat a lot. The condition can range from mild to serious. It usually clears up in 1 to 3 weeks with antifungal creams and self-care.
Jock Itch or Jokic?
The award-winning singer-songwriter continued, “So it looks like I am an athlete, so I have to squirt it on myself. I don’t know why the f— I just told you that.” In line with her athlete comment, the NBA fan, who is dating sports agent Rich Paul, went on to make a joke about the Denver Nuggets’ star player Nikola Jokić. “Sounds like I am a big Nuggets fan there, doesn’t it? Jock Itch that is what it is called, right?”
The 34-show second leg of “Weekends with Adele” began June 16 and will run through November 4.
