Ellen DeGeneres Is ‘Heartbroken’ Over Death Of DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss
Ellen DeGeneres has spoken out over the death of former colleague and friend DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss. Boss worked with her on her talk show from 2014-2022.
“I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him,” the comedian wrote on Instagram Wednesday (Dec. 14).
She added, “Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children — Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”
Stephen began working with Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014 and was promoted to co-executive producer in 2020. The DJ reflected on his time on the show during their “final chat” back in September.
“I’m feeling all of the things, but what I’m feeling most of all is grateful and thankful that, I mean, you can see this atmosphere that is here that has showed up because you also had the courage to step up and be your authentic self,” the So You Think You Can Dance alum told the host, per Page Six.
He continued, “I’m just so grateful that I got to be a part of this and be a part of this family.”
Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, also shared an emotional statement remembering her late husband.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” Holker, 34, said in a statement to People. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and the light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” Holker continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”
She concluded her statement with a message to her husband: “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
As we previously reported, Holker went to LAPD Tuesday (Dec. 13) because she said Stephen had left home without his car, which wasn’t something he’d normally do, per TMZ. According to the outlet, shortly after Holker’s report, police got a call for a shooting at an L.A. hotel and they found Stephen there, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He is survived by his wife, Allison Holker, and their three children, Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6, and Zaia, 3.
