Taylor Swift Will Be Directing Her First Feature Film
Taylor Swift is directing again — this time for a full-length feature film. The singer-songwriter, who directed her “All Too Well: The Short Film” earlier this year will be working with Searchlight Pictures.
Variety reports Swift, 32, has written an original script, which will be produced by the Oscar-winning studio behind The Menu (in theaters now), Jojo Rabbit and Black Swan. Other key details, like a plot and casting, are being kept under wraps until a later date.
“Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller,” said Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield. “It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”

Yesterday (December 8), Swift shared a behind-the-scenes video of her directing All Too Well on Instagram. She captioned the post: “The first seeds of this short film were planted over ten years ago, and I’ll never forget the behind the scenes moments of the shoot. I owe everything to @sadiesink_, Dylan O’Brien, my incredible DP @the_rinayang and my producer @saulysaulysauly.”
Swift continued, “I also want to say thank you to our wonderful background actors and crew who made this story come to life so naturally. I loved every second of it and I will always remember it. All. Too. Well. The behind the scenes footage of ATW the short film is out now!”
As we previously reported, Swift’s 14-minute production of All Too Well: The Short Film was shot on 35mm. It stars The Maze Runner‘s Dylan O’Brien and Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink on the 10-minute track. The short was released as part of the singer’s re-recording of her 2012 album, Red. On top of directing, Swift also wrote and starred in the film, which was screened at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.
