Florence Pugh Said She Was ‘Totally In Love’ With Olivia Wilde In 2019
Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde weren’t always at odds. A resurfaced video from November 2019 has shown just how much Pugh admired the Don’t Worry Darling director as she spoke about her work. In Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Florence and Beanie Feldstein sat down together to discuss their careers, with Beanie having just starred in Olivia’s directorial debut, Booksmart. Florence, 26, asked, “What was it like to work with Olivia Wilde? Because I am totally in love with her.”
Feldstein, 29, was convinced that the two women would get along. She said, “I think you and Olivia would be like, you’d be so drawn to each other because she’s just as fearless as you are in her work onscreen and offscreen.” Florence replied, “I can tell.”
The Lady Bird actress continued to praise Wilde, 38, as a director adding, “Olivia is a remarkable director, she’s so fresh and energetic and I just believed in her so much that I was really intimidated by my [Booksmart] character. I think she’s really tough.”
TikTok took the clip and resurfaced it following all the drama concerning the Don’t Worry Darling cast.

“Never meet your heroes,” wrote one person. Another wrote, “how they’re using Florence as a scapegoat makes me sick, she was so excited for this project.”
“Well this certainly did not age well,” commented another, while someone said, “This is so sad. I hope they didn’t fall out over essentially boy drama but I think there’s more to it than that.”
Meanwhile, Don’t Worry Darling had a second premiere in New York on Monday (September 19), which Florence did not attend, and neither did her co-star Chris Pine. Both cited other filming commitments for their absence, with Florence currently working on Dune: Part Two in Budapest, and Pine shooting a project in Los Angeles.
