Olivia Wilde Shuts Down Feud Rumors With Florence Pugh
Don’t worry darling, there’s no beef between Olivia Wilde and her co-star Florence Pugh.
Wilde, 38, recently cleared the air in an interview with Variety that she was impressed by Pugh after seeing her performance in the 2019 A24 horror film, Midsommar.”I had been blown the f— away by her,” Wilde shared. “I loved the film, but I loved her. I was just like, ‘Well, she’s extraordinary. She’s clearly the most exciting young actress working today.'”
As we earlier reported, rumors began to surface that Wilde and Pugh were feuding, after the Black Widow actress was not promoting Don’t Worry Darling on social media like her co-stars Wilde and Harry Styles. However, she posted earlier this month a promo for the upcoming psychological thriller.
When the second trailer for the film dropped July 21, followers noticed that Pugh posted about another movie she’s starring in — Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer on her Instagram Stories but nothing about Don’t Worry Darling. Additionally, Page Six reported that Pugh was allegedly unhappy about Styles’ relationship with Wilde as they started dating on the set of the film around the same time as Olivia’s split from ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis. On top of that, Showbiz Galore reported that Styles made three times the amount as Pugh did for their starring roles.
However, Wilde isn’t feeding into the rumors, denying the idea that she has any issues with Pugh and cleared up the actors’ wages. “There has been a lot out there that I largely don’t pay attention to,” she told Variety. “But the absurdity of invented clickbait and subsequent reaction regarding a nonexistent pay disparity between our lead and supporting actors really upset me. I’m a woman who has been in this business for over 20 years, and it’s something that I have fought for myself and others, especially being a director. There is absolutely no validity to those claims.”
Don’t Worry Darling premieres in theaters September 23. Watch a clip from the movie below:
