Britney Spears and Sam Asghari arrive at the premiere of Sony Pictures' "One Upon A Time...In Hollywood" at the Chinese Theatre on July 22, 2019 in Hollywood, California.

Sam Asghari shared a statement to social media after his fiance Britney Spears revealed she had a miscarriage over the weekend.

Spears, 40, had announced she was pregnant in April, but on Saturday (May 14), she told her fans in a joint statement with Asghari, 28, that she had miscarried, writing, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however, we were overly excited to share the good news.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the couple’s statement continued. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

Asghari wrote on his Instagram Stories on Monday night another message about how the couple is handling the tragedy. “We have felt your support,” he wrote. “We are taking things positively and moving forward with our future. It’s hard but we are not alone. Thank you for respecting our privacy. We will be expanding our family soon.”

Spears has two children – Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15 – with her ex-husband Kevin Federline who she was married to from 2004 to 2006.
