Adele ‘Sobbed’ To Rich Paul Over Struggle With Vegas Rehearsals
Adele’s reasoning for postponing her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace Hotel is coming into question, according to at least one gossip report. Sources told Page Six that the 33-year-old singer was “shouting and sobbing” during rehearsals on the phone to boyfriend Rich Paul.
When the “Rolling In The Deep” singer announced that she was postponing her residency one day before the first show (January 20), she was in tears as she told fans, “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready.” The singer blamed the postponement on a variety of factors: a massive COVID outbreak within her crew, delivery delays and her singer’s displeasure with the production.
“Adele’s been crying and couldn’t get through a single full rehearsal for the past month,” a source linked to the management team at Caesars Palace told Page Six. “Just constantly on the phone with Rich… loudly shouting and sobbing. She has barely rehearsed because she is constantly in the middle of an emotional shootout.”
She reportedly took a private jet to Los Angeles and went straight to Paul’s home after making her announcement. The singer praised her relationship with Paul in her November Oprah interview, saying, “Just the easiness of it… it’s just been very smooth.” She also shared that it was the first time she’s “loved myself and been open to loving and being loved by someone else.”
Apparently, Adele and her team wanted to tear out the sound system in the Colosseum and install her own brand-new, high-tech video screen. She also allegedly clashed with Caesars’ management over its plans for a 60-strong choir to accompany her on “Skyfall.”
Adele had also been having “explosive arguments” with set designer Esmeralda Devlin over an onstage water feature. “Adele described the pool as a ‘baggy old pond’ and refused, point blank, to stand in the middle of it,” a source told the publication. “The intention was to fill it with water on the set as she was lifted up on a crane-type mechanism, creating the illusion she was floating on water.”
