Lil Durk On Morgan Wallen: ‘He Ain’t No Racist’
Lil Durk hopes that country singer Morgan Wallen will work with Kendrick Lamar next; as we reported, Durk and Wallen’s collab “Broadway Girls” hit No. 1 on the Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
TMZ was able to get a hold of the Chicago rapper and ask him his thoughts about Wallen, the controversial singer whose video was leaked of him saying the “N” word last year.
“My boy,” said the rapper. “He ain’t no racist. That’s my boy. We had a long talk. He had his public situation… I vouch for him and he good.” When asked if Kendrick should work with Wallen, Durk answered, “Fa sho.”
Wallen previously expressed interest in working with other rappers in the future and specifically collabing with Kendrick. “I do love Moneybagg [Yo]. He’s definitely at the top of the list,” Wallen said on Druski’s Clubhouse chat per XXL. “But like overall, ever…I’m trying to think of not just in the past little bit. Kendrick Lamar would be pretty cool.”
Wallen discussed “Broadway Girls” in a Clubhouse chat with Druski, Wallen explained how he and Durk got to collab together on “Broadway Girls.”
“So I hit him up,” Wallen recalled. “Me and him had been talking a little bit throughout the year and kind of developed a friendship. I was like, ‘I don’t know if you’re serious or not, but here’s a couple of versions.’ And he took the song. I said, ‘I’m not gonna put out an album for a while. If you just want to throw this on yours, go ahead.’ So he did and I’m super pumped about it.”
As of now, Kendrick has not responded publicly to Wallen’s request to work together.
