Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson Take Over NBC’s New Year’s Eve Special
Move over, Carson Daly, your reign of New Year’s Eve has ended, as Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson are taking over the event that rings in the new year.
Per Deadline, the singer and the SNL star will co-host a two-hour event called Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, which will air from 10:30 PM ET to 12:30 AM ET. The special is executive produced by SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels and will air live from Miami, Florida on NBC and Peacock, and apparently there will be “a star-studded lineup of special guests and musical performances for a must watch evening.”
Cyrus and Davidson will be competing with top-rated Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve hosted by Ryan Seacrest, which airs on ABC. Ryan Seacrest’s NYE gig beat the Oscars in ratings this year and ranked as the top-rated entertainment show on television last season. Carson Daly hosted NBC’s New Year’s Eve special from 2004 until last year.
