NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 13: Rihanna attends The 2021 Met Gala Celebrating In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion at Metropolitan Museum of Art on September 13, 2021 in New York City.

That’s Right Honorable Rihanna to you! On Monday (Nov. 28), Barbados cut political and ceremonial ties with the United Kingdom, removing Queen Elizabeth II as head of state and declaring Rihanna a National Hero per The Hollywood Reporter.

At the Pride of Nationhood ceremony in Bridgetown, Barbados, Prime Minister Mia Mottley declared billionaire singer turned entrepreneur Rihanna a National Hero.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions,” Mottley told Rihanna, a nod to the singer’s 2012 hit “Diamonds.”

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was born in Saint Michael and grew up in the Barbados capital of Bridgeton before she moved to the U.S. to begin a music career. Rihanna becomes the second woman and 11th person in total to be declared a National Hero of Barbados. Officially, the singer can use the title Right Honorable in front of her name.
