Grimes and Elon Musk Call it Quits, But Will Continue to Co-Parent
SpaceX or SpaceEx? Elon Musk and Grimes have split up after three years together and sharing one-year-old son X Æ A-Xii Musk.
Per Page Six, the tech mogul said that there is no bad blood between him and the singer, and they are still co-parenting their child together. “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently, and are on great terms,” Musk said.
He explained that his constant traveling has kept them apart. “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in L.A. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”
Grimes and Musk began dating in 2018 and gave birth to their son in May 2020. They attended the 2021 Met Gala together, though Grimes walked the red carpet alone, with Musk joining her inside the event. At the gala, Grimes spoke to Vogue about how her life has changed after having a child: “I think having a baby was a big kind of like rebirth for me, like artistically. Like, it just like, I don’t know.”
Grimes is filming a new Fox show Alter Ego, an avatar singing competition in which she appears as a judge. She is joined by Alanis Morissette, will.i.am and Nick Lachey as fellow judges.
Musk shares five sons with his ex-wife, author Justine Wilson: 17-year-old twins Griffin and Xavier, and 15-year-old triplets Damian, Saxon, and Kai. The former couple divorced in 2008. He was also married to Westworld actress Talulah Riley twice—from 2010 to 2012, and then again from 2013 to 2016. Before dating Grimes, he dated Amber Heard from 2017 to 2018, after her divorce from Johnny Depp was finalized in 2017.
