Lil Nas X Skates With Tony Hawk, Becomes ‘Blood Brothers’
Lil Nas X has a genius way of turning his problems into marketing gold. This time, he mended a potential beef by becoming blood brothers with Tony Hawk.
Just last week, the 22-year-old singer and rapper called out pro skateboarder Tony Hawk for his usage of blood in a special edition skateboard. Hawk, 53, received no backlash like the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” singer when he sold his Satan Shoes.
Hawk teamed up with the beverage Liquid Death to release a limited edition $500 skateboard with his blood infused into the paint, while Lil Nas X’s pair of “controversial Satan Shoes” featured a bronze pentagram, an inverted cross and a drop of human blood.
Lil Nas X aired his grievances on Twitter when he found out about The Birdman’s blood infused marketing tactic, saying, “now that tony hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there was no public outrage, are y’all ready to admit y’all were never actually upset over the blood in the shoes? and maybe u were mad for some other reason?”

The two posted photos together, with Lil Nas X wearing his “Satan Shoes” and Hawk holding his blood board. “nah WE tweakin,” wrote Lil Nas X on the pics. To which Hawk replied in the comments, “Blood Brothers?”

Hawk posted a video on his page of Lil Nas X looking like he’s about to drop down on the half-pipe in front of him saying, “Hey, I’m Lil Nas X and today I’m going to be doing some airs, maybe a McTwist, let’s go!” Then proceeds to head towards the edge before the video cuts quickly to Tony Hawk wearing the same outfit going down the ramp to do his thing. The hilarious video ends with Lil Nas X reappearing saying, “And that’s how you skateboard.” Hawk seems to have taken the camera in the end, since we hear a voice yell, “Tweakin!”
