Kanye West and Irina Shayk Break Up After Two Months
Kanye West and Irina Shayk have called their months-long relationship quits. “It was never a serious thing that took off,” a source told People.
Another source added, “Kanye has been busy working and spending time with his kids. This is his focus. He doesn’t have time to date right now. He finds Irina amazing though. They remain friendly.”
Last month, the 35-year-old model didn’t want news of the couple dating to be in all the headlines, keeping her distance from arriving places together. “She doesn’t want the association that they are dating, which is what would have run in the press if she showed up [in Paris with him],” a source said. “It would have been another month of news saying that they are dating.”
West and Shayk were first spotted together in early June celebrating the rapper’s 44th birthday at Villa La Coste in France. Later that month, a separate source revealed the pair’s plans to date long distance, saying, “Kanye will continue to be L.A.-based. He has no plans to move to NYC (where Shayk lives). He is very focused on business in L.A. too. He likes spending time with Irina and plans to see her soon again.”
Ye and Irina have even worked together in the past — she’s modeled for Yeezy, walked the runway for his Paris fashion show and he’s name-dropped her in songs like “Christian Dior Denim Flow.”
West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian — who filed for divorce in February — was aware of the romance “for weeks” before the musician’s birthday celebration abroad.
“It doesn’t bother Kim that Kanye is dating. Her only concern is their kids,” a source told the outlet. “She wants Kanye to be present and spend as much time with them as possible. The kids love when Kanye is around. Kim doesn’t want a new girlfriend to distract Kanye from spending time with the kids.”
Kardashian and West share daughters North, 8, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, 2. Shayk shares daughter Lea De Seine, 3, with ex Bradley Cooper.
Kardashian recently publicly supported West at two listening parties for his new album Donda. The pair have reportedly been co-parenting their children since February, with Kardashian recently taking care of the kids in L.A. while West works on the album.
