Gigi Hadid Asks Paparazzi To Blur Her Baby Girl’s Face in Photos
Gigi Hadid shared a lengthy note on her Instagram Story last night (July 5) asking paparazzi, press and fan accounts to refrain from posting photos of her daughter’s face online.
The 26-year-old supermodel addressed wanting the aforementioned media groups to blur 9-month-old daughter Khai’s face, whom she shares with Zayn Malik.
“As our baby grows up we have to realize that we can’t protect her from everything the way we wanted to and could when she was smaller,” Hadid began her open letter. “She loves seeing the world! and although she gets a lot of that out near our farm, she also gets to experience other places — a true blessing.”
Hadid mentioned an instance where Khai “started to want her sun shade lifted up (something she is used to at home) and helps herself to it!” However, the model continued on to say that her and Malik never intentionally shared their daughter’s face on social media as an effort so that she may have a chance to “live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen.”
“It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera,” the new mom said, realizing it is an extra effort for the publications, but is hopeful that this can continue to be a conversation “to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family.”
Gigi ended her note with “a huge ‘Thank You’ to the paparazzi who have respected her wishes in keeping their distance while she is with her daughter.
“For a child, I can imagine that close or dramatic paparazzi frenzies must be overwhelming and disorienting… it still is as an adult that understands and deals with it often,” Hadid empathized with her daughter at the end of her letter.
