Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds Attributes A Text To Reconciliation With Wife
Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds revealed in a TikTok video how he reconciled with his wife, Aja Volkman, through a text message.
“Have you ever gotten a text that changed your life?” 33-year-old Reynolds opened the video montage with that question.
“My wife and I hadn’t talked in seven months,” adding that the day that Reynolds was driving to the lawyers to sign the divorce papers, he received a text from Volkman “that turned my perspective upside down.”
The text that turned his perspective upside down said “she didn’t need to own me to love me. She loved me without expectations.”
By Reynolds’ account of the events on TikTok, they then “ditched the lawyers and went to lunch.” Volkman then appears into frame, happily embracing Reynolds who writes, “It felt like the first date again. We called off the divorce.”
The TikTok video, captioned, “have you ever gotten a text that changed your life? #imaginedragons #followyou” features a forthcoming song heard throughout the video, called “Follow You.”

“I wrote this song after I got that text,” Reynolds writes after their son Valentine joins the couple at the end of the video. The couple are also parents to twin daughters, three-year-olds Gia James and Coco Rae, and eight-year-old daughter Arrow Eve, People reports.
Per the outlet, Reynolds and Volkman previously announced their split in April 2018, later revealing they had reconciled the following January. Two months later, they announced that they were expecting baby number four, Valentine.
In June of that year, Reynolds disclosed to the outlet about how the pair had been going to therapy to “get to a healthier place.”
“We’ve been going through marriage counseling and putting in a lot of work to keep our family strong,” he said at the time, adding “relationships are complex.”
