Jameela Jamil: Piers Morgan’s ‘Lies’ About Her Nearly Led Her To Suicide
Jameela Jamil Tweeted about what she said was Piers Morgan’s “relentless campaign of lies” against her, which almost drove her to suicide last year.
The 35 year old actress tweeted, “I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February. I’m glad I’m still alive today for many reasons.”

May we NEVER have to watch minorities have to go on mainstream news and have to *defend* their right to be treated with dignity and respect... ever again. All while being screamed over by this man. @GMB pic.twitter.com/0ehoSEZOc6

Jamil and Morgan have gone after each other publicly in the past, like their vicious Twitter feud last year over Caroline Flack, who died by suicide.
“Piers using a dead woman who I was friends with, as a weapon to try to create further harassment for me as I’ve JUST explained publicly that last week I felt suicidal… is why he is this industry’s most problematic. My criticizing a *show* did not aim any hate at Caroline,” she tweeted at the time, according to Page Six.
To which Morgan responded, writing, “Delighted to see Jameela Jamil has miraculously found the strength from her myriad afflictions to brand me a ‘bullying parasite.’ This is such a valuable contribution to the #BeKind movement & I wish her well with her continued recovery from Hypocritical Twerp Syndrome.”
Jamil’s recent tweet comes after the news of Morgan’s televised resignation from his position at ITV’s Good Morning Britain. Following a heated argument with his co-anchor Alex Beresford over the topic of Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview, Morgan stormed off set.
After Beresford called him out saying, “I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her,” Morgan said, “Okay, I’m done with this. Sorry! No sorry, see you later. Can’t do this,” while rushing off the set.
Beresford continued on after Morgan left saying, “This is absolutely diabolical behavior. I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen 6:30 to 7:00. Yesterday was incredibly hard to watch.”
Sure. I just prefer not to sit there listening to colleagues call me diabolical. https://t.co/ASrypakZdu

The aftermath of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey continues to dominate the news cycle. After their coverage on The View, a clip of Whoopi Goldberg “OK”-ing Meghan McCain went viral, getting over 4 million views.

“The American experiment is the way to go, and if we have two American women — Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey — who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for it,” McCain said.
As we previously reported, Markle admitted that she considered suicide as a result of how she was treated by the British tabloids, as well as what she felt was the lack of support from the Royal Family, or the “firm.”
