Andre 3000 Recalls Car Crash That Almost Killed Him
Mike Ayers is currently working on a forthcoming book, One Last Song: Conversations on Life, Death, and Music; the book is a series of interviews with musicians about the last song they every want to hear before they die. OutKast’s Andre 3000 was among those who he interviewed, and in their conversation, the Outkast rapper details a car crash that almost killed him, as The Jasmine Brand reports.
“When I was younger, me and my friend were in a car accident. We were riding with my friend’s mom, but we were so young, we didn’t know what happened until we woke up in the hospital. I didn’t know, I was a kid,” Andre 3000 told Ayers.
“We were on this street in Atlanta and it was a non-busy street, and fortunately, this guy who had money passed by, and he had one of the first working cell phones. It was like a suitcase and he was able to call an ambulance. If we didn’t have that cell phone, we would have been out there for a minute and might have died.”

Earlier this month, Three Stacks was spotted out on the streets greeting someone with his flute in hand. The rapper wore a huge smile on his face after dapping someone.
A man who was off-camera asked Andre 3000 how he was and he assured the man that he was “good.” He told the man that he was “chillin’, chillin’.” That wasn’t the first time that the Atlanta native was spotted out and about with his instrument.
Last summer in July, Andre was seen in a Starbucks while playing his flute as customers dined. That same July, the rapper was also noticed at a craft store with the same flute.
