‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Is Under Official Investigation
Variety is exclusively reporting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show is under investigation. The outlet states that the show “has become the subject of an internal investigation by WarnerMedia following numerous accounts of workplace problems on the long-running daytime series.”
They add, “Executives from show producer Telepictures and distributor Warner Bros. Television sent a memo to staffers last week saying they have engaged WBTV-owner WarnerMedia’s employee relations group and a third-party firm, who will interview current and former staffers about their experiences on set.” So far, Warner Bros. Television and The Ellen DeGeneres Show reps have not officially responded.
As reported, there have been many negative stories circulating about Ellen and her show over the past few months. There were rumors that The Ellen DeGeneres Show is getting canceled, there were rumors about ratings dropping, and there have been many stories published about Ellen behaving in a way that is contrary to her kind on-camera persona.
Buzzfeed News also recently published a lengthy story about ex-employees coming forward to complain about the show’s toxic workplace. In a statement to the outlet, executive producers of the show wrote, “We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience. It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us.”
“For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us. We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”
