‘Grease Sing-A-Long’ Set To Replace The Tony Awards
The bad news is the Tony Awards has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The good news is they are replacing it with a Grease sing-along.
CBS made the news official on social media, writing, “We got chills, and they’re multiplying because Grease Sing-A-Long is coming to #CBSMovieNight. Belt out the songs of the hit musical along with the rest of the country.” According to the preview, the original movie will play, but there will be lyrics on the bottom of the screen so fans can singalong.
There are mixed reviews on social media about the announcement. Some folks are happy; some aren’t. One user wrote, “Of all the things they could air instead of the Tonys…. F— GREASE?” while another added, “We’re all in agreement that we’re NOT gonna watch the Grease singalong right?” One positive Twitter user is making lemonade from lemons and said, “I want my @TheTonyAwards!!! But you know I never turn down a Grease Sing-A-Long. I’ll be there, in full wig and poodle skirt.”
