Super Bowl Halftime Show Draws Over 1000 FCC Complaints: ‘Had Our Eyes Molested’
The FCC has its hands full with all the criticism it has received since Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. According to WFAA, they have received over 1,300 complaints so far about the performances.
“Extreme booty shaking,” “pole dancing,” “S&M outfits” were just some of the terms to describe what these viewers said they saw. One complainer wrote, “The show was not appropriate for a general audience. It was sexually explicit and would have been considered soft porn not many years ago,” while another added, “I do not subscribe to The Playboy Channel, we do not buy porn for $20 a flick, we simply wanted to sit down as a family and watch the Super Bowl. God forbid we expected to watch football and a quick concert but instead had our eyes molested.”
Although complaints came from 49 states, Texas had the most complaints with 49. Zero complaints came from Vermont. WFAA explains that these objections are mild compared to the ones received in 2004. “By comparison, the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show with Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction yielded 540,000 complaints in the weeks after the performance.”
