Selena Gomez’s ambitions were too high… and that might be how you feel after watching her new music video. Gomez’s “Rare” video is a psychedelic daydream that you won’t want to come down from.
On the title track from her new album, out now, Gomez sings about an ex who had no idea how special she was. “I don’t have it all/I’m not claiming to/But I know that I’m special (So special), yeah,” she sings. “And I’ll bet there’s somebody else out there/To tell me I’m rare.”
Trapped in a technicolor world filled with magic fairy dust and holographic butterflies, Gomez realizes she doesn’t have to wait around for this guy.
That’s the running theme of her first record in five years. It’s one she hopes will connect with others. After dropping Rare, Gomez posted a sweet message to her fans letting them know that the album was hers, but “not it’s yours. Hope you like it.”
