Mac Miller’s Posthumous Follow-up To ‘Swimming’ Will Drop Next Week
Nearly two years after his death, fans will get to hear new Mac Miller music. Miller’s posthumous record, Circles, will drop next week, thanks to his family.
Miller’s family released a statement via Miller’s Instagram explaining that at the time of his death, the rapper was “well into the process of recording” a companion piece to Swimming with producer Jon Brion. After he died, Brion worked to finish the project based on the conversations he had with Miller.
It wasn’t an easy decision for his family to release the album. though. “This is a complicated process with no right answer. No clear path,” Miller’s family explained in their statement. “We simply know that it was important to Malcolm for the world to hear it.”
And that’s why, in the end, they decided it was important to let his fans hear what will be his final record. Even if it is hard. “We miss him,” his family wrote. “We are left to imagine where Malcolm was going and to appreciate where he was. We hope you take the time to listen. The look on his face when everyone was listening said it all.”
Circles will be released on January 17.
