Billie Eilish, Lizzo, And More Honored During Apple’s First ‘Apple Music Awards’
Apple has just announced that it will hold its first-ever Apple Music Awards. Per a press release, this event “honor achievements in music across five distinct categories and winners are chosen through a process that reflects the service’s editorial perspective, combined with what customers around the world are loving most.”

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president, describes the awards by saying, “The Apple Music Awards are designed to recognize the passion, energy and creativity of the world’s favorite artists. The musically diverse group of inaugural winners have sparked deep social conversation, influenced culture and inspired our customers around the world.”

The chosen winners for 2019 are:
Artist of the Year: Billie Eilish
Songwriter of the Year: Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell
Breakthrough Artist of the Year: Lizzo
Album of the Year: WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? (Billie Eilish)
Song of the Year: “Old Town Road” – Lil Nas X
For the inaugural event, Billie Eilish will perform at Steve Jobs Theater tomorrow (December 4). The performance will be live-streamed at 6:30 PST.
