Demi Moore Bares All For Harpers Bazaar
Demi Moore bares it all, quite literally, as she is nude on the cover Harper Bazaar’s October issue.
In the article, written by Lena Dunham, Moore discusses her heartbreaking childhood, a miscarriage she had while married to Ashton Kutcher, being a mom, and sobriety. She also talks about the topics that will be in Inside Out, her new memoir.
On the topic of sobriety, Moore explains that she was sober beginning in her 20s, but lost it in her 40’s. She was sober once again in her 50s. She explains, “I guess I would think of it as this: It was really important to me to have natural childbirth because I didn’t want to miss a moment. And with that I experienced pain. So part of being sober is, I don’t want to miss a moment of life, of that texture, even if that means being in – some pain.”
Demi also discusses the traumatic experience she had as a child when her mom overdosed. “The next thing I remember is using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow out of her mouth while my father held it open and told me what to do. Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back. My childhood was over.”
Another part of her life that Demi shares is her marraige to Ashton Kutcher. Not only was she dealing with the world judging her for being a “grandma-aged bride,” but she was also struggling with having a miscarriage. When talking about the public humiliation, she says, “As a woman, a mother, and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
