Miley Cyrus Clarifies What She Meant With Nicki Minaj/Cardi B Lyric
Miley Cyrus wants to make herself absolutely clear — she has no beef with Nicki Minaj.
Cyrus made headlines this weekend for her performance of her song “Cattitude,” where she raps the lyric, “I love you, Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.” Almost immediately, fans began speculating that perhaps their recently-buried beef wasn’t so squashed at all.
But Cyrus set the record straight in an interview she gave in the UK Tuesday.
“I don’t think there is beef now anymore,” she said. “Actually, one of my songs says ‘You want to know if we’re really beefin’? There’s no beef. I’m a vegan.’ I think you’re allowed to enjoy two artists that fill a similar lane.”
In a post promoting the performance, Cyrus had also mentioned Selena, Demi and Ariana as well. She wrote: “I love you, Selena, but I listen to Demi.” In another post, she wrote: “I love you, me, but I listen to Ari.”
She also explained that reference in the interview.
“I just always grew up collaborating with Selena and Demi, and there was never competition,” she said. “That’s why Ariana is one of my best friends.”
“When you are authentically yourself, no one can be you. So, you’re never worried about someone stealing your place because it can’t be taken because you’re the only one,” she added. “I think what [Cardi and Nicki] do is so different from each other. That’s why they both get a crown. They don’t have to share. They don’t have to break it in half. There’s no reason to fight over it. They’re both queens. And anytime you want to feel powerful and strong, that’s my go-to, Cardi and Nicki.”

Cyrus no doubt felt the need to clarify after Nicki infamously called her out at the 2015 VMAs after Cyrus weighed in on Nicki seemingly shading Taylor Swift.
“Back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley what’s good?” Nicki said on stage at the show.
But since then, the two have publicly squashed any beef. And it appears Cyrus wants to keep it that way.
