WATCH: Britney Spears Denies Being Held Against Her Will

Britney Spears has come forward to set the record straight about her recent hospitalization and rumors that she is being held against her will.
Spears recorded and released a video thanking fans for their concern and assuring them that she checked into a mental health facility, where she has been seeking treatment since last month, of her own volition.
“Hi guys, just checking in with all of you who have been concerned about me,” Britney said. “All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry I will be back very soon.”
Spears, 37, apparently felt compelled to address the rumors that her father had ordered her placed in the facility after she refused to take her medicine for her mental and emotional health.
According to TMZ, Spears’ “cocktail” of medications stopped working, triggering a mental health crisis. Worse, her father’s ailing health seemed to make the situation even urgent. Now, as she seeks treatment, doctors are attempting to adjust her medications to find the right mix that works for her.
Spears also slammed her ex-boyfriend and manager, Sam Lutfi, for circulating “fake emails.”
“Don’t believe everything you read and hear,” she said. “These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address.”
Lutfi, has denied the allegations saying “unequivocally,” that he has never had any access to her emails.

Still, Spears says she is doing well and asked fans to know that she is strong.
“You may not know this about me, but I am strong,” she said, “but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you.”
