There’s so much spoofing on the internet that it is actually creating a market for someone to disprove the validity of someone’s social media accounts.
According to Unilad, “Andy Bartram, from Maidstone, Kent, has launched his own investigation agency to funnel out all the fake profiles and trolls so as to keep normal singletons safe.”
And it makes sense, let’s be honest. Catfishing has been around for years. And with online dating being a huge part of lying on the internet (using pictures that aren’t of themselves on their dating profiles, creating multiple accounts to creep on others), I could honestly see how many people would take on this service, or hire it for that matter.
Think of it as your own personal Sherlock Holmes. Private Detectives are probably going to be super expensive, and for something that seems as silly as the internet, it may not seem like it’s that worth it. But let’s be honest, there are some people that do believe their rich uncle that they’ve never even heard of just died and left them loads of money.
In Bartram’s case, he set up Vet Your Date and charges £20 a pop for each pre-date search of your Tinder or Bumble match. Seems worth it to me, if you’re going to risk finding love on the internet.
