Taylor Swift, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson In Movie Version Of ‘Cats’
‘Cats’ has to be one of the longest-running Broadway Musicals ever, and now it’s coming to the silver screen.
But not only is that already exciting enough: they got some big names to play in the Straight-To-Video musical, according to NME.
Taylor Swift, James Corden, Sir Ian McKellan, and Jennifer Hudson will all be in it, and at this time, we only know that Jennifer Hudson is playing the role of Grizabella. Judging by the casting of Sir Ian McKellan, we’ll expect him to be Old Deuteronomy, the family head, who “has lived many lives and buried nine wives.”
With that description, it’s safe to say that ‘Cats’ the musical isn’t about posting pictures of your kitties on social media, just so you know.
The story shares that there are different tribes of cats, and the Jellicle Cats choose a cat each year to be reborn after visiting the Heavenside Layer. The music was originally composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and was based on Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats by T.S. Elliot.
It’ll be interesting to see how they pull this off, and how it will be released if it’s a “straight to video” production.
