If you waited until the (VERY) last minute to get a Valentine's Day gift, it might not be too late.

The season of love is here! With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, couples everywhere are buying a gift or two, and preparing for a day (and night if you’re freaky) of grand, sweeping gestures of their love for each other. But of course, as is the case every Valentine’s Day, there are bound to be some people who seem to miss the memo and forget to get a gift. Luckily there are a handful of Valentine’s Day gift ideas procrastinators can secure for their significant other in a pinch.

According to a survey by YouGov, more men than women have admitted to forgetting Valentine’s Day completely. The survey also reveals that about 40% of divorced men have admitted to disappointing their former spouse by underdelivering on the day of love.

This is quite shocking when you think about it. After all, it’s not like the holiday sneaks up on people. It’s literally the same day every year! But when it comes down to it, I don’t think it’s meant to be malicious in most cases. I sincerely believe some people are just naturally romance-illiterate, or as I like to call them: “Cupid stupid.”

Whatever the reason may be, whether it’s general apathy or genuine forgetfulness, there’s still a few ways for Valentine’s Day procrastinators to squeak out a bit of effort even this close to the big day.

Keep in mind going in – the pointers in this list are far from ideal Valentine’s Day gift and date ideas. But if you’re pressed for time and don’t want to show up completely empty-handed, they are certainly better than nothing.

Here are some completely Hail Mary gift ideas for your boo thang this Valentine’s Day. They might not help you score, but they’ll at least keep you on the playing field for now.

  • New Valentine's Sweets From 7-11

    7 eleven

When in doubt, candies and treats are the way to go for Valentine’s Day! The popular convenience store chain is debuting several new candies just in time for the romantic holiday. You can find the new delicious confections like the Seven Select Peach Heart Gummis, Chocolate-Flavored Heart Pretzels, dessert cakes, cookies and so much more.

It’ll be tough for your partner to yell at you for clearly forgetting about the holiday when they’ve got a mouthful of candy, all I’m sayin’.

  • Romantic Waffle House Dinner

Say what you will about Waffle House, but they’ve been there for us through thick and thin, sickness and health, good times and bad. And if that’s not the purest representation of love then I don’t know what is.

Or at least that’s how you can spin it to your significant other when you’re pitching a Waffle House date for Valentine’s Day. Incidentally, many Waffle House locations do have V-Day specials on the menu, which you can see here.

  • Buy A Star

Come on, who doesn’t want to have a star in their name? Keep in mind, this is largely a symbolic gift and most likely won’t grant any legally-binding ownership over a celestial gas-orb, but the thought is nice. It’s also relatively easy and quick to register online.

  • Scented Candles

In the past I’ve decried scented candles as a completely lame and eyeroll-inducing gift to get your better half, but desperate times call for extremely desperate measures. Maybe the soothing scent of Lemon Lavender will coax your partner into enough of a luxuriating trance to let your procrastinating self off the hook.

The hours for the Yankee Candle at Cross Creek Mall can be found here.
