  12. 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018) - There's nothing wrong with coming in 12th on this list; all of these films are great. Scarlett didn't get too much screen time in 'Infinity War,' though. However, this list has some ScarJo roles where she made the most of a few minutes. But in 'Infinity War,' she just didn't get to shine as much as in other her Marvel Cinematic Universe films. There was a great fight scene in Wakanda, though, where she teamed up with Danai Gurira's Okoye to save Elizabeth Olson's Wanda Maximoff (arguably the most powerful of all the MCU characters).

  11. 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019) - How do you bring heart to a film with a massive budget and a double-digit cast of major stars? Watching Natasha try to hold things together in the aftermath of of Thanos's snap actually made you feel her "survivor's guilt." We can't wait to see what she does in her next appearance, in the flashback standalone 'Black Widow' film.

  In 2019, Scareltt Johansson starred in hit movies like "Avengers: Endgame," "Jojo Rabbit," and "Marriage Story." She was also named as the highest paid actress by Forbes. And next year, she finally gets her own Marvel film; "Balck Widow" is due in theaters on May 1, 2020.

  9. 'Chef' (2014) - It's another support role, and one that she took after she was a massive star, most likely because she believed in the film (written and directed by, and starring, her Marvel castmate Jon Favreau). As Molly, the host of the restaurant that fires Favreau's Carl, she makes the most of every on-screen moment.

  8. 'Iron Man 2' Johansson made her debut as Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow here. Some Marvel fans complain that this is the worst "MCU" film (that would actually be 'Iron Man 3'). 'Iron Man 2' is underrated, and every scene with Johansson is a highlight (especially her first appearance).

  7. "The Avengers' (2012) - Without any superpowers, Scarlett's Natasha Romanoff holds her own alongside bigger names like Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. It helped that Johannson had more star power than the rest of the cast, other than Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson. Her opening scene, when the bad guys think that *they're* interrogating her, was perfectly played.

  6. 'Ghost World' (2001) - Still a teenager when she took a co-starring role in this cult classic, she wasn't yet the actress she'd become... but her dry wit was there. Oddly, 'Ghost World' was also based on a comic book, albeit one without superheroes.

  5. 'Jojo Rabbit' (2019) As Rosie, Jojo's mother, she gets to snark heavily on her son, as well as anyone else who gets in her way. Again, it's a support role that she probably took because she liked the film.

  4.' Captain America: Civil War' (2016) - "I said I'd help you find him, not catch him. There's a difference." The moment where Natasha switches sides and protects Captain America and Bucky from the Black Panther was one of the highlights of one of the very best MCU films.

  2. 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014) - Sure, any actor or actress who looks good in spandex and leather could get a role in a superhero film. But what makes the MCU films different are the small moments (like Natasha asking Steve Rogers 'Was that your first kiss since 1945?') and character arcs that you feel invested in. Scarlett's Nastasha had one of the most interesting arcs in the MCU's first decade and in many ways, she was the heart and soul; this franchise. This movie should have been billed 'Captain America AND The Black Widow: Winter Soldier.' It sports some of Natasha's best moments.

  2. 'Her' (2013) 'You seem like a person – but you’re just a voice in a computer,' Joaquin Phoenix's 'Theodore' says to Scarlett's operating system named 'Samantha' in 'Her.' He's speaking for all of us. Even though we never see her in 'Her,' Johannson's voice gives the film a heart and makes you believe an algorithm can love. It's a stellar performance.

  1. 'Lost in Translation' (2003) - She was well-known and respected by 2003, but 'Lost in Translation' made her a star and an icon. Holding her own next to Bill Murray in a movie based only on dialogue would have been intimidating for anyone, much less someone who wasn't out of their teens. Johannson had to hold her own here, and she did. The movie has gone on to be a classic and a highlight of not just Johansson's career, but Murray's and writer director Sofia Coppola's. And please: never make a sequel. It's perfect as it is.

  1. Bad Movie: 'Lucy' (2014) - It wasn't her fault, but the plot about a woman who gets enhanced abilities when a drug is absorbed by her bloodstream just didn't really work.
