The Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Stubborn Donkey Running, and Cool Spring Downtown District host this annual race. Over 58 people have signed up so far.
Participants can bring family. Friends too. The route winds through downtown streets, and organizers think it'll sell out again.
This event celebrates Juneteenth across the city. Juneteenth marks the date when slavery ended in the United States, which was June 19, 1865.
The race returns for another year. Organizers have grown it each time since they started.
Three partner groups have teamed up on past races. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. began as a service organization back in 1913. Stubborn Donkey Running runs as a local group for runners. Cool Spring Downtown District oversees the downtown area where runners will race.
Ticket details weren't ready when they announced it. Anyone interested can sign up to get updates about registration.
The race starts right in the heart of downtown at 301 N. Cool Spring Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Starting at 7:30 a.m. means participants finish the 5k course while morning temperatures stay comfortable.
