Fayetteville Plans Fifth Annual Juneteenth Jubilee at Festival Park

The fifth annual Juneteenth Jubilee will be hosted by Cool Spring Downtown District on Friday, June 19 at Festival Park.

The fifth annual Juneteenth Jubilee will be hosted by Cool Spring Downtown District . It will take place on Friday, June 19 from 5 to 11 p.m. at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville. Kirby and Misha Fair headline.

The event celebrates Black American contributions and history. This year's program connects past experiences with present realities while pointing toward what comes next.

Misha Fair will open the main stage. The Atlanta-born singer-songwriter performs Traditional Country, Americana, and Alt-Country music. Kirby headlines. Born Kirby Lauryen Dockery in Memphis, she left Berklee College of Music and posted an original song on YouTube each day for 275 days.

The Miss Juneteenth Fayetteville Scholarship Pageant will return with a crowning ceremony during the celebration. Black Artist Forward, Black Canvas, and the Fayetteville State University Fine Arts department will display visual art at the event. A children's entertainment area will be available. A ticketed VIP experience offers premium access.

Keynote speakers include Sheila Cuffee. Cuffee chairs the Cumberland County CommuniCare Board of Directors and serves on the NC Human Relations Commission. April Mata, creative manager for the Arts Council of Fayetteville, will also speak. Mata co-founded Black Artist Forward, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating equity in the arts for Black artists.

"It's an opportunity for us to reflect on our past, celebrate progress, and unite in our ongoing journey towards a more inclusive and equitable future," said Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin in a press release, per the Cool Spring Downtown District.
